Baptism

Baptism: A Public Declaration of New Life in Christ

Baptism is more than a ceremony — it is a sacred act of obedience, transformation, and public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. It represents the death of our old life and the resurrection into a new life filled with purpose, grace, and redemption.

When we are baptized, we identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. We declare to heaven and earth that we belong to Him.

What Does Baptism Represent?

Baptism symbolizes:

• The washing away of sin
• Spiritual rebirth
• Surrender to God's will
• A covenant relationship with Christ
• New beginnings

The water does not save us — it is our faith in Jesus that saves — but baptism is the outward expression of that inward transformation.

               Scripture Foundation

Romans 6:4 (KJV)
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Acts 2:38 (KJV)
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Why We Baptize?

We baptize because:

• Jesus was baptized (Matthew 3:13-17)
• Jesus commanded it
• The early church practiced it
• It marks a spiritual transition

Baptism is an act of faith and obedience. It is a powerful moment where heaven rejoices and the believer steps boldly into their God-ordained identity.
